Buttermilk Biscuits Recipe
**Ingredients:**
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 6 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cubed
- 3/4 cup cold buttermilk
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven:Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
2. Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
3. Cut in the butter:Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
4. Add buttermilk: Pour in the cold buttermilk and stir until the dough just comes together. Be careful not to overmix.
5. Knead the dough: Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Gently knead it a few times until it holds together.
6. Shape and cut: Pat the dough into a 1-inch thick rectangle. Fold it over itself a few times to create layers, then pat it back into a 1-inch thick rectangle. Use a round biscuit cutter (about 2.5 inches in diameter) to cut out the biscuits. Press straight down without twisting to ensure the biscuits rise evenly. Gather the scraps, pat them together, and cut out additional biscuits.
7. Bake: Place the biscuits on the prepared baking sheet, about 1 inch apart. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.
8. Serve:Remove from the oven and let cool slightly on a wire rack. Serve warm with butter, jam, or your favorite topping.
